Oh bugger

Image
So you may remember that a couple of months ago, when I wasn't doing too great, Mark and I went away for three nights. Now, I admit, we certainly had a fab time - full breakfasts, chocolates, dinners and puddings, with lots of alcohol - but I came home 3lb heavier. Now my long term readers will know this is normal for me, 1lb per night. I had a little panic, cos I wasn't wanting to diet! I honestly thought I'd go back to my 'normal' eating and it would fall off. It didn't! And there's more. Mark and I just had another three nights away. It was so lovely and this time I didn't go mad. I had my normal breakfast, normal lunch, very little chocolate and only one pudding! But yep, you know it, I put on 3lbs. So I'm almost half a stone heavier than my 'I'm never going to diet again weight'. And there's still more - one week today I'm off to Turkey with Ellie. For seven nights. Seven nights = 7lbs. I'm fully prepared to be a stone he...

Painting

Happy to announce the decorating in the blue room (just the name we call it) is complete. Mark did the ceiling and I did the edges, coving and walls. I would choose to paint in the nude but the room is downstairs and has two windows so I didn't lol. And I'd also choose to be bare foot, but Mark shouts at me. He reckons I'm a bit messy and if I drop paint then step in it I'll then put dots of paint all over the house! Which I can't really deny - it's not unheard of for me to splash a little. So he makes me wear slippers, but then the problem is that I forget to take them off before leaving the room! Oops. He just likes to shout at me. The room is pale pink, you must think pink is my favourite colour after the porch was done in pink too. It really isn't, far from it, but it matches everything else. I'll show you once it's done! Oh and it'll still be called the blue room even though all blue has been removed! I think I've told you before that ...

It's a slippery slope

I resisted for at least 2 weeks but I need to confess I've bought and eaten my first mince pie! It was delicious - with a splash of cream, of course, I'm Gilly! What's next? Bailey's? Yep had that. Watched a Christmas movie? Oh my goodness yes I have! Channel 5 started their terrible, Hallmark, but must see, Christmas movies last Saturday! It was awesome! Roses/Quality Street/Heroes? Yep had some of them too. But Christmas is just around the corner. 72 days to go. At work I was given November's activity calendar to type up and make pretty, and there it was, on 30 November - 'put Christmas tree up'. And that was it - me in Christmas mode - and I'm so excited!  I'm sitting in my garden (Thursday) writing this with a coffee and mince pie. The sun is shining and there's no wind at all, it's lovely. Libby is wandering around, not going too far from me, and the cats are out and about. So nice. Until I look down and see a dead mouse just a few inc...

Drum roll please

I've ordered my chair! Remember the one from a few weeks ago? The one I was desperate for? It's ordered - in antique velvet in mink. I'm super happy. I've also ordered a new sofa. I have dreamed of a purple velvet sofa for a million years, and I never thought I'd actually get one! But it's also on order. I'm such a lucky girl. Now to prep the room. I spent last weekend stripping the wallpaper - I was truly knackered. Mark has prepared the walls ready for painting and I'll be doing that this weekend.  The picture is the shelf in my ensuite. It drives Mark totally bananas! But I need my stuff out, otherwise I forget to use it. I know that sounds a little crazy - who could forget to moisturise? Well me. And it's all the other bits and pieces - eye cream, serum, oil, nail cream, exfoliator etc etc. I mean it takes an awful lot of gunk to make me look this good. However, I found a solution. I sorted my tub (see photo below). Now I can just rummage in th...
