It's a slippery slope
I resisted for at least 2 weeks but I need to confess I've bought and eaten my first mince pie! It was delicious - with a splash of cream, of course, I'm Gilly! What's next? Bailey's? Yep had that. Watched a Christmas movie? Oh my goodness yes I have! Channel 5 started their terrible, Hallmark, but must see, Christmas movies last Saturday! It was awesome! Roses/Quality Street/Heroes? Yep had some of them too. But Christmas is just around the corner. 72 days to go. At work I was given November's activity calendar to type up and make pretty, and there it was, on 30 November - 'put Christmas tree up'. And that was it - me in Christmas mode - and I'm so excited!
I'm sitting in my garden (Thursday) writing this with a coffee and mince pie. The sun is shining and there's no wind at all, it's lovely. Libby is wandering around, not going too far from me, and the cats are out and about. So nice. Until I look down and see a dead mouse just a few inches from my feet. How very un-nice.
Libby hasn't eaten her breakfast this morning and she's pee'd in the kitchen. It's happened before a few months ago so I'm trying not to read anything into it, just a blip, but it's hard. She seems happy in herself but there's something going on. I pray that it's not 'it'.
So my daftness this week? At work we wear a uniform top (I look like a beautician) and we get changed there and changed again when we leave. On Tuesday, after my shift ended, I grabbed my bag to trot upstairs to change my top. I heard my boss shout after me "you don't need to change". Ooh have the rules changed? No, I was still wearing my civvies - my scruffy sweatshirt, I'd been wearing it all day! And then Wednesday I left work in my uniform forgetting to get changed at all. D'oh!
Christmas isn't a season, it's a feeling.
This week's job spot is from my mate down in Geordie-land. It's not her current job - apparently that was far too boring - so this is her ex-job..
Formal job title? Environment Artist
What do you do in layman's terms? Create 3d models for video games. Mostly environments and assets
Best bit of job? Being paid to do artwork
Worst bit? Looking at your team mate's art and thinking you're not good enough
Something that might surprise my readers about your job? A lot of people think it's just messing about playing games. It's not (unless you're in QA so you are actually playing games... but only cos you're trying find what breaks it so it can be fixed). It can be long hours and a lot of hard work
Do you have an anecdote? Hmmm... nothing I'm willing to tell here... but did unexpectedly come across a couple of Storm Troopers wandering around the office one day
