Bella

So this is our new pup! She was called Betty for the first 48 hours until the kids put their feet down. I made the mistake of sending them a WhatsApp poll with alternative names and included Dave. Obviously Dave was the most popular, but she's a little girl! So it's Bella Dave. My friend used to call Libby Bella by mistake so it's a tiny nod to Libby. Mark is still in shock, he's still getting over Libby. But Bella isn't to replace Libby, we'll love and miss Libby forever. It's just time to give our love to a new pet. We get her next Monday and I'm so excited! Interesting fact - she will be the brother of my hairdressers pup, from the same litter. Hopefully they'll be mates and we'll get together to walk them. Another interesting fact - my hairdresser is my sister in law's sister in law! This weekend we're away to a bothy (not a real bothy). It's our wedding anniversary (24 years) and we're taking the kids! I'm not quite sur...

Oh I wish I'd looked after my teeth. The truth is I have no recollection of my childhood dental routine, at all! Was I good at brushing my teeth? No idea**. But I do know I have lots of fillings and I'm paying the real cost now. I had toothache over the weekend, waking me during the night! So the dentist says my tooth (my number 5 bottom right) is dying. He gave me the option of a root canal (great) or an extraction (great). I can't have another one pulled out, honestly at this rate I'll be left with bad gums and one implanted tooth! I actually cried and the dental nurse had to give me a hug, I was so gutted. The dentist gave me antibiotics - those really horrible ones that you absolutely can't drink alcohol with, they taste foul and give you diarrhoea. Anyway two days in, the meds have kicked in and the pain has eased. I'm getting the root canal on Tuesday. Oh joys.  Whilst I'm on the subject of meds my doctor has changed my HRT. It was my request and I...

Home bird

Ellie and I were invited to a charity ball last weekend by my work. The big boss bought the tickets which was great. A young 23 year old lad was raising money for a cancer charity - being 5 years in remission himself. It was a chance to get dressed up and have a nice meal with a few drinks. Ellie bumped into my sister in law on the dance floor though her aunt didn't recognise her. Now I'm not saying that Ellie scrubs up well but... We managed to stay until 11pm (I'm sure Ellie could have gone the distance) much to the shock of my sister in law (they got home past 2am I believe). It may not be a surprise to you guys but I realised how much of a home bird I am. I struggle to go out at all, my first reaction would always be to decline an offer. I'm sensible enough to know that never going out would be unhealthy and I always try to ignore any anxiety and just do it anyway! But it is hard for me. I don't mean going out during the day, shopping or out for coffee or lunc...

Does anyone like visiting the dentist? I don't - I really dislike it. I saw the hygienist yesterday and she didn't do anything too scary. A bit of cold water, some polishing, and my bleeding gums. My gums are not in great shape. I have to water floss every night, which helps, but I don't take the flosser when I go away, so end up back at square one. I need a portable one (Amazon?)! And even though she didn't do anything horrible I still felt a bit weak at the knees. I came straight home and went into a hot bath! I did see the dentist for my checkup as well, and luckily my teeth are ok.  Yay it's Easter! This year I've decorated my Easter tree - see picture. Never really had decorations before but just had an urge this year. Do you think it's normal to have an Easter urge? I'm working Friday and Monday but that's fine. I'm making lamb dinner on Sunday. It's a lovely festivity, is Easter. The lighter nights, the warmer weather (kind of), and...
