Bella

 


So this is our new pup! She was called Betty for the first 48 hours until the kids put their feet down. I made the mistake of sending them a WhatsApp poll with alternative names and included Dave. Obviously Dave was the most popular, but she's a little girl! So it's Bella Dave. My friend used to call Libby Bella by mistake so it's a tiny nod to Libby. Mark is still in shock, he's still getting over Libby. But Bella isn't to replace Libby, we'll love and miss Libby forever. It's just time to give our love to a new pet. We get her next Monday and I'm so excited! Interesting fact - she will be the brother of my hairdressers pup, from the same litter. Hopefully they'll be mates and we'll get together to walk them. Another interesting fact - my hairdresser is my sister in law's sister in law!

This weekend we're away to a bothy (not a real bothy). It's our wedding anniversary (24 years) and we're taking the kids! I'm not quite sure how that happened. The bothy accommodates up to 4 adults so I just thought it'll be nice to share it with Ellie and Isaac. Ellie was an immediate yes (it has a hot tub) but Isaac said her couldn't possibly ask for time off work with less than one month's notice. Hopefully he'll join us later once his work is finished. I don't think he's ever been in a hot tub. Although it's technically a wood fired hot tub which Ellie has likened to a Bain Marie lol. Mark only agreed to take the kids if they were our waiters - Ellie consented to the terms. And Isaac just does what he's told!

Sorry the photo of Bella Dave isn't so good. I only took the one when we visited her! But I'll take plenty more once she's home.

Alternative resolutions

  So this year, instead of the usual resolutions - lose weight, exercise more, drink water, drink less alcohol etc that fail in just a few days, I've decided to make resolutions for all the lovely people in my life!  Hubby - 2022 is the Year he wants to be more romantic. Though this is news to him. Romance is a foreign language and he has no clue. However, he does do Google! So I suggest he tries asking "Ok Google? How do I do romance?" I'm confident she can help him. Daughter - this is easy. She just needs to remember that one day she will be me!  Son - I know he can do full sentences so his resolution is to message with more than just fine/ok/good/I guess/no/yes. Also, he needs to be better at replying to messages in a timely manner and not wait all day! Home bird

  Ellie and I were invited to a charity ball last weekend by my work. The big boss bought the tickets which was great. A young 23 year old lad was raising money for a cancer charity - being 5 years in remission himself. It was a chance to get dressed up and have a nice meal with a few drinks. Ellie bumped into my sister in law on the dance floor though her aunt didn't recognise her. Now I'm not saying that Ellie scrubs up well but... We managed to stay until 11pm (I'm sure Ellie could have gone the distance) much to the shock of my sister in law (they got home past 2am I believe). It may not be a surprise to you guys but I realised how much of a home bird I am. I struggle to go out at all, my first reaction would always be to decline an offer. I'm sensible enough to know that never going out would be unhealthy and I always try to ignore any anxiety and just do it anyway! But it is hard for me. A storm

  If you're expecting a quick repartee I'm afraid I'm going to disappoint you. My funny bone is wearing a plaster-cast. My Eeyore cloud has turned into a storm. I've not been coping so well. My house is like a mental asylum. My daughter is doing great but my son is struggling. Even Libby came into our bedroom at 3am Wednesday morning having an anxiety attack! It was one of the alarm sensors beeping due to a low battery. She doesn't like strange noises, and I was panicked because I didn't know what was wrong with her, and obviously any strange behaviour is worrying, incase it's a step closer to her demise. I can't say too much about Isaac, as that wouldn't be fair but I can say his Asperger's is having an effect. He's dealing with a lot of changes just now - coming home to live, getting a full time job, volunteering for National Trust and about to go to a new university to do his masters! And his difficulties and struggles are so hard to watch...
