Anniversary

Well my baby has done it! She's lived for a whole year after her diagnosis and prognosis of having just 6-8 weeks left! And she's still bouncing! Her tumour is really bulging out of her bottom bless her, and you can see her poo curving around it. But she's still pooping and that is amazing. She's also eating her normal amount of food and she's eating it dry again. She's happy and loving life! And we are so blessed to still have her. She's just the best and I love her so much. She fills my life with such joy and happiness.  So Tuesday was my fake birthday - the date of birth I use for loyalty cards and organisations that really don't need my real date off birth i.e. retailers and eateries etc. So far I've had a free cookie from Lidl, a free cake from Costa and 25% off my purchase at H&M. Whoop! So kind. My blood pressure is through the roof. I've got a BP machine at home but I don't like to use it because the readings were so bad. Ignora...

New wellies

These are my new Wellington boots! My last pair were just generic green ones from B&Q a few years old. I got a hole in the sole that let water in. Not a great feature in a welly. I'm excited with my new footwear for two very important reasons. No. 1 - they match my dressing gown perfectly. This may confuse some of you but others will understand. Sometimes when I take Libby out for her morning stroll I just pop out in my dressing gown. All my neighbours are used to me, luckily I don't have many of them and no passing traffic. I think that the fact my wellies go so well just heightens the look! If it's very cold I don a hi-vis coat over the whole ensemble. I'm nothing if not considerate. They see me coming a mile off.  Reason No. 2 - I do also wear my wellies whilst wearing clothing. But when you've got your jeans on, and socks, then welly socks the whole thing gets a bit tight. Obviously my calves (like my bum) are larger than the average so there's not muc...

Chocolate!!

Happy Easter! Don't you just love my teddy bear dressed up as a duck? He's adorable and I think I want him around all year and not just at Easter. I do like Easter but we don't really do much. However, when I was a kid Easter was almost as good as Christmas. Yes this was about Easter eggs, obviously, but not just that. 40+ years ago things were just different. Firstly, the eggs. The best bit was having to crack the chocolate shell open to get to the Smarties or Buttons inside. We don't have that now, alas. I might be wrong but you could pretty much only get Smarties or Buttons eggs, not like now when you can get virtually any brand/chocolate bar ever invented. I think my mum always made a lamb for dinner (though sometimes it was a turkey bought and frozen as an extra at Christmas. This was equally as nice). We painted eggs, we boiled eggs with onion skins or beetroot to colour the shells. We rolled eggs down a hill. There was simnel cake and lots of hot cross buns. I ...

Who are you?

Hubby found a better use for the LFT test tube - As a tiny vase for the tiny daffodil that I picked him from the garden.  It'll be no surprise to tell you that people come in all shapes and sizes. With different features like brown hair, ginger hair, big hands, small feet, hairy toes, long eyelashes. And no one would ever say that people with blonde hair are better than people with brunette hair (apart from the blue eye/brown eye experiment by Jane Elliott in 1968). But people's personalities are very different too. Some love nature, others love computers, some people are up on their feet all day, others not so much. But can you really call some personalities as better than others? A person who enjoys doing housework and keeps a spotless house is not a better person than those that hate it. People who adore running and playing sports or exercising are not better than their lazier counterparts! They are just different! Everyone is different. However, the flip of the coin is t...

I wanted to share the Mother's Day card that I got from my son. It's a little worrying that ever since he's been old enough to choose/purchase a card for me it's always had an alcohol theme. Wine glasses and wine bottles generally. Bless him. I especially want to share what he wrote inside - To Gillian  Happy Mother's Day  From Isaac  Now since it was for Mother's Day it would have been nice if he had addressed it to Mum/Mom/ Mummy/Mother? But Gillian!? Not even my name (what 99% of people call me) Gilly. Gillian is very much my naughty name. And a Love Isaac would have been better. And who doesn't give their mother kisses xxx? Isaac, that's who. I don't want to come across as ungrateful as it did make me smile. My son is my son. And I love him. (Just to keep things balanced I received a lovely homemade card from my daughter. A picture of a cocktail glass and a recipe for a Mumtini. Why do my children think I'm an alcoholic? And I love her too,...
