Men-ohhh-pause

Image
So I don't have any classic symptoms of the menopause, yet. Periods are regular as clockwork, no hot flushes, I still sleep like a log however... Drum Roll...I have gone a bit doo-lally! And I'm definitely blaming the peri-menopause! My new work colleagues are beginning to think I'm crackers - At the restaurant - - I dropped the digital timer, into a bowl of macaroni cheese. This could happen to anyone but that's not the crazy bit. I then ran the timer under the tap to clean it. No need to say it stopped working! (Was fine the next day after drying over night lol) - I wondered what staff did with their coats, as it's getting colder and the lockers aren't that big. At lunch I asked one of the girls. She looked at me funny and told me she hung it up, behind the door. I imagined a hook on the back of the door with a pile of coats hanging from it. When I was next using my locker I looked round, and on the wall behind me, next to the door, is a whole row of pegs! H...

Cats cats cats

I'm always talking about Libby the Labrador so I decided to make it a cat week, for all my cat loving readers. I got home yesterday and I could hear a clatter and banging upstairs. Ah I thought, one of the cats (thinking Bacardi) is stuck in a room. Which is a little unlikely as she can open doors. So up I went, checked all the usual spots - my wardrobe, the airing cupboard, the bathroom - but couldn't find her. But with a little help from Libby we located her inside the drawers of the spare bed. Obviously I took a picture (see above) before rescuing her lol! But I'm very perplexed. It's not like she got in an open drawer and someone has come in behind her and shut it. Not me nor hubby has touched that room today. She must have opened the drawer enough to get in, but not enough to get out. Which is a bit of a mystery. Unless Libby shut her in?! No, more likely Bumblebee. As you know Bacardi is my grand-cat and is staying with us as my daughter is in a rented flat just...

A cracker

Image
This was Libby the other day. She's in the utility and I was in the kitchen, and she's looking at me through the door. She's excited and very keen to come and see me but she just stands there. Even when I ask if she's coming over she just wags her tail. I have to go to open the door wide for her to walk through it. She is an absolute cracker! Also this week I bought her some new chews, in the shape of little bones. I gave her one and she was delighted. And she's been carrying this chew all around the house for the last four days. I keep telling her she can eat it but she doesn't understand. We gave one to George and he got it. Took him quite a while but he chewed and ate it all up!  She might be a cracker but my goodness she's doing so well. That's almost 6 months since her diagnosis. 6 months since she was given just up to 2 months to live. Of course I don't know what has helped. If I was religious I'd say my mum's prayers. If I was spirit...

Where's Libby?

They are not mini sausages on my breakfast yogurt, but don't they look like it? They are the weirdest grapes that I've ever seen. I've been talking to my mum on what's app video everyday since the pandemic began. And every day, especially since her diagnosis, mum always asks where Libby is. And it's brought it to my attention that Libby is always close. Whether I'm in the living room (she'll be on there sofa next to me), the kitchen (she's on her bed), in the bath (she's on the floor next to the bath), I'm in the garden (she's right next to me). In fact the only time she isn't around me is if she's gone for a walk with her dad. It's really nice to think that she wants to be next to me all the time.  Now that I work full time (between a care home and a restaurant) I'm wearing a mask continually! And I have some pros and cons to share.  Pros -  - it covers chin spots  - you only need to make up half your face  - keeps your fac...
