My apologies

So I previously and confidently told you that the dangly thing at the back of your throat was not your tonsils but your epiglottis! However I've been corrected by my daughter, it is in fact your uvula. Not to be mistaken with your vulva which she tells me it's something very different. Talking of the back of the throat, I was doing my weekly PCR test at work on Tuesday. I do struggle a lot and gag badly, but this week I actually vomited. Luckily I do it at a mirror over a sink so it was all caught but it was very unpleasant and very projectile, and rather embarrassing! It's made me dislike the process all the more!  My baby was 21 this week. (That's years not weeks or months by the way). We had a garden party (covid friendly) and offered build your own pizza and decorate your own cupcake! It was great fun and a huge success. Birthday boy (and his sister) were a little tipsy but that's very much expected. To be honest so was I. It was a lovely evening and the garde...

Dundee? How?

The other day I was brushing my teeth ready to go to work (restaurant). I was dressed, wearing my uniform shirt. Hubby suddenly got a towel and wrapped it round my chest and held it at the neck. This was to stop me putting toothpaste on my shirt. Now if you're thinking Ahhh how sweet then stop that thought right now! He was just being a cheeky bugger treating me like a child who is not capable of brushing my teeth without an incident! Now the fact that he's probably right and I could so easily have thrown toothpaste all over my clothing is not the point here! I'm an adult and I do not need supervising. He's so annoying! (I like it really but don't tell him). Well yesterday I bought a need car. A lovely orange Polo. I got a great deal (with £100 Amazon voucher and bottle of Bailey's thrown in). I was busy signing my life away when they suddenly said that someone in Dundee had bought it. I was sat in the showroom with the keys in my hand and the just test driven...

Happy days

Finally I've lost that 1lb to give me my first stone loss. It's been a struggle for a few weeks but I'm there. Now of course I'm onto my next stone. I'm under no illusion that it'll be hard work but I'm ready!  As you can see from the picture they let me play with the sharp knives at work. Anyone who knows me knows that this is no surprise at all. I'm always trying to chop off my finger tips. I was very excited to get a blue plaster. It's my first one ever! Not sure how the kiddies will feel finding blood in their ham sandwiches though?!  Busy week. Now working full days at the restaurant (albeit still only 3 per week). My body is rebelling. At the end of my shifts it screams and moans at me 'what on earth are you doing Gilly?' It's just in shock and I'm sure it'll get used to it. My feet throb. My back aches. My legs hurt. But oh my goodness how nice is that hot bath before I get my PJs on and have a glass of wine. Bliss. Gener...

Hiding

Can you believe it? I'm 52 and I've just found out that the dangly thing at the back of your throat is not your tonsils! Apparently it's your epiglottis. It didn't occur to me that tonsils is plural and there is only one dangly thing. How did I not know where the tonsils were? So Libby the Labrador is still with us. In spite of loving the beach this week's picture is her trying to hide behind my shopping bags because she didn't want to leave the security of the car boot. Of course once I lifted her out she was fine and had a great time. She's a silly sausage sometimes! Her tumour is growing but she's coping. Hubby and I seem to spend most of the day discussing her poos - size, shape, colour, firmness. It reminds me of when I had my first baby. Poo was pretty important then too. I remember seeing tiny worms in my daughter's nappy. Which of course they weren't - it was just the fibre from her very first banana! Oh those were the days.  Bad news t...

Give me a log and I'll give you two

So second shift at the coffee shop. It was a day on the floor - greeting, test & trace, clearing and cleaning tables! And I loved it. Who knew? I'm certainly not as excited at home cleaning tables! But at least I did all my steps that day.  Then my next shift on Tuesday was all day (9-5). This was on the tills and making coffees. Latte and Cappuccino are in the bag. Flat whites needs a bit more practice. And I was also there for the end of day cleaning. Which meant I got to take some scones home - I think I had about 14 in total. Some to family and some to my freezer! Well you can't let them waste. There has been movement on my other job. Seems Disclosure Scotland sent me an email for my PVG and I deleted it. Oops! (Not a great start for an admin role lol). Anyway it's now been sorted and my application is in so hopefully I'll be starting work soon. Yesterday we started a wee holiday in the Highlands, East coast. Just 3 nights, staying in a pod like last year. Thi...
