Always a tale

Image
So, even though it looks like it, I've not had lip filler! But there is a story. And it's made me realise that there is always a story with me. Even the most basic question, which should elicit an easy yes or no, has a tale. You could ask me if I'd been to work that day and my reply would start with "Well....." and continue with something like - "I was due to go in today but just as I was getting into my car my boss rang and asked if I could source some baby tigers" and then you'd get my whole day of Google, phone calls and trips to the zoo. (If my boss is reading this she's thinking that there is no wonder I always have a tale to tell because I'm making it all up! Obviously this particular tale is not true and is for example only. I could just have easily said the question was do you want a coffee? And I'm sure there'd be something stopping me from a simple yes please or no thank you. And would begin with, well.....). I just can...

Summer fun

Image
I don't want to depress you but the nights start drawing in from Monday! I know! Right! 😢 Summer is just so great. I love the sun, everything is better in the sun, except maybe trying to read your phone. It's pretty hard when the sun shines, and telling the time on my Fitbit is impossible. But apart from that everything else is better in the sun. Gin and tonic tastes better when drinking on an evening watching the sun go down. Walking along the beach with a 99 then having chips with plenty of vinegar and burning your mouth eating them too fast. Walking the dog on a warm summer afternoon. Sun bathing is also much improved on a sunny day! I do like to strip off at the first sign of summer. And I'm not alone, come on? Most of you like to enjoy the warm weather. Though I think I'm in the minority of people who literally strip off and sit in their knickers only! I'm not shy! Though when I hear a delivery van you've never seen anyone pull on a t-shirt as fast (come...

Gilly's life hacks

Image
Well I have hiked up my first Munro. Yay go me. It was horrible! Never ever again. The weather was lovely (though actually too warm really). The views were stunning, especially from the peak. And the chat was good (on the way up at least. Rather quieter on the way down). The first two miles or so were pleasant. It was flat and I enjoyed the scenery. But the vertical was gruesome and I really didn't enjoy it at all. Our lunch at the top just wasn't going down my throat. I was exhausted and felt sick. And I still had another 6 miles to walk to get back. The memories make be shudder. Oh and to top it all I couldn't walk for 4 days after! The only thing that got me through it was knowing I just had to keep going. One miserable step at a time. Beam me up Scotty just wasn't working! I thought I would share some life hacks with you, things that have enlightened my life - Hack#1 - have children. If you don't have children some of these benefits can be obtained by borrowin...

Google

Image
I thought I'd share my Google history with you this week. You might be surprised, or you might not. I am truly not trying to bore you. Obviously. I've already had one abort ship this week - no more please. (If my blog is not satisfying you please get in touch and tell me why, I'm thick skinned. This is a complete lie, my skin is as thick as a cherry tomato.) What does an itchy left foot mean? - so I was going along the lines that an itchy right palm means you're coming into money (left palm means losing money). I believe the foot means you're going on a journey. This could be true... See below. The Black Cock - this is not what you think! An ex colleague of hubby has bought a pub of this name near Hexham (where I was born) so I wanted to see what it was like. You naughty people!  What softens a dog's stools? - as Libby's tumour grows her bum hole gets smaller so she needs nice soft poos. So apparently cows milk and olive oil can help. We've given her s...
