Solo

Mark and Ellie went to Italy skiing with my BiL. Since they were flying from Newcastle it seemed like a no brainer to cadge a free lift down. I've spent the week with my mum, and I've caught up with family and friends, which has been lovely. I also decided to treat myself to my own mini holiday and booked into a spa hotel...

...I was very excited. It's a hotel I've always wanted to stay in but I have to say my room was very disappointing. I've stayed in smarter Premier Inns. The air con wasn't working and the room was freezing! Eventually they brought me a noisy heater. It was ok, I slept well. The food was very good (breakfast, dinner and a lunch was included). The spa was nice though the jacuzzi was broken. My treatments were good (body massage and scrub) but I think I felt a little lonely (which I wasn't expecting) and I missed Mark and couldn't stop thinking of Libby. The perfect time for my phone to pop up an album of photos all of her!) I cried all the way back to my mum's and sobbed the rest of the day! I feel better today though, thank you. I did manage to scare away my mum's postman, with my red eyes and puffy face. There is nothing more attractive than a girl who's been crying for hours. But honestly, I'm good.

This might be because I met a very good friend at the metro centre for some retail therapy! Now you'll never guess what I bought? Not clothes, or shoes, or jewellery but Easter decorations! And I got some ideas for creativity and things for me to make at home. (Can anyone remember how your mother blew eggs?) I shall be making my home Easter ready very soon. Of course, when I say my home I mean just the console table in the hall. I didn't buy that many decorations! (Honestly Mark) Just gorgeous!

When I got up on Sunday morning I found a lovely pink suede pouch with a card saying it was from Ellie (see photo). Inside I found the bracelet with a printed message 'I may not be able to stop the downpour but I will always walk with you in the rain'. So sweet and thoughtful. I'm such a lucky lady.

A dysfunctional family is any family with more than one person in it.
