I demand respect
I thought having both my children return home to live for a bit would be fun. But no, it only means that there is more than just Mark taking the piss out of me! To be fair, Isaac isn't too bad (unless I've done something really funny) and sometimes stands up for me. I've told them that it's abuse but they don't care. I even threatened to go on strike - they laughed and told me to go ahead as they wouldn't notice! (Bloody cheek! - Well, Mark and Ellie both work from home and they do do most of the housework! But still, I do my fair share! If I ask Mark to dust for me he tells me he thinks it's dusty enough!). I demand respect from them as I'm the oldest - but this just reminds them to call me the old woman. I asked Isaac why they were so rotten to me - apparently they are showing their love! Pah. Load of rubbish, they are just big fat bullies. I was brought up not to mock the afflicted and I'm very afflicted. I can't help being a bit ditzy, or clumsy. This menopause thing is really doing a one on me. They'll be sad when I've ran away with the milkman. Who'll be laughing then? Whilst we're on the subject of me being a bit daft, you want to know the stupidest thing I've done this week? I put my mobile in my back pocket... But it was still connected to the charger! And yes it was seen by others, obviously!
I've picked up my wedding ring. So nice to have it on my finger again after so long. Makes me happy. (It's the small things that matter.)
I'm very sad that our Queen has died. I thought she was an amazing woman, not without fault, but did a really good job for 70 years on the throne. Spookily I told Mark less than 24 hours earlier that I thought she was dying. I think a lot of the country will be devastated. Her family must be bereft. Everything will sound funny now. On Christmas Day it won't be the Queen's speech, it'll be the King's speech (sounds like a movie). No more God save the Queen. It's now Long live the King. Stamps and sterling currency will change! Post boxes too. How long will it take us to remember the new words of the National Anthem?
When life seems hard, the courageous do not lie down and accept defeat; instead, they are all the more determined to struggle for a better future. - Queen Elizabeth II
