Duran Duran
Went to see Duran Duran in Inverness last weekend, all by myself! Mark mumbled something about coming with me if I really wanted to but he'd hate it, would be grumpy and would sit all through it with ear plugs in! With an offer like that I declined and decided to be a brave piglet and go alone. I even walked to the stadium alone wearing my big girl pants. I just followed the stream of 50 something couples lol. It was absolutely fantastic! Which is a little strange because I was never a huge fan when I was a teenager and I'm still not. This begs the question why did I go? Um...I am not sure so I can't answer this. But it was so good. As was Jack Savoretti who was supporting them.
This was my first outdoor concert since I was 16 and went to see Queen. Of course all day in Inverness it absolutely threw it down! I felt certain I'd probably drown watching Simon Le Bon &co. But it actually stayed pretty much dry. When I say dry I'm referring to the rain... The alcohol wasn't. The queues for drinks was huge. And there was at least one guy who couldn't walk and had to be escorted out by security!
I was alone but within 10 mins of being in the football stadium I bumped into 2 very good friends from Peterhead. (Though one lives in Inverness now so maybe not that much of a surprise). I haven't seen them for ages so it was just lovely having a few bevy's with them and having a jolly good catch up. It made my night. Until I took my seat and was next to 2 men one of which was a bit inebriated and decided to chat me up. I felt a little uncomfortable though I'm sure he was safe enough. Anyway when he wasn't looking I just walked away and found another aisle to dance in on the other side of the pitch!
I've got into the habit of not wearing make up. I don't wear it for either job. Obviously the carers in the Home don't wear it, bar one young lass lol. And no one at the restaurant does. To be honest if I wore it there it would melt off within half an hour! Boy do I sweat - it's such hot work! (Though I just found out on Sunday that it's not even allowed - the owner doesn't like it. So there you go!) Anyway I definitely considered it for the concert. I wanted to impress Simon, for when his eyes met mine and he swept me off my feet. Until I realised I was just being very very silly. After all my seat was so far away from the stage he wouldn't be able to see me!! So I went naked faced, thinking I wouldn't see anyone I knew! Oops, I felt very plain next to my 2 mates who were looking gorgeous and glam. I should make more of an effort - Duran Duran or no Duran Duran!
Some people call it a one night stand but we can call it paradise. - Save a Pray by Duran Duran
