Glasgow


 I bet you can't work out what our cocktails are called? Delicious! 

So I'm in Glasgow with my daughter but it nearly didn't happen. Hubby came home from skiing in France on Sunday with a cold. So he didn't want to give it to me before I left for my wee few days away. This was lucky because on Monday he tested positive. Our daughter was away with him so did she have COVID (she did have this 'cold'). Anyway after much testing (LFT and PCR) we were both consistently negative. But I was living with a self isolator so what should I do. Legally I was negative and could continue to live life as normal (as normal as it gets at the moment). I asked my boss at the care home who is extremely vigilant about COVID. She told me that not only could I legally go to Glasgow but I could morally go. So I did! However if my husband hadn't so gallantly stayed away from me, and slept in the spare bed it could have been a different story. Oh and btw he thinks he has COVID and a cold! 

I'm currently at the theatre waiting for the start of Cyrano de Bergerac with James McAvoy. Very excited! We are in the Balcony seats and it's so high! 

As you can see from the picture we've been having the odd drink. Afternoon tea this afternoon with a tea pot of cocktail served in tea cups. All very nice. For breakfast tomorrow we'll be having pancakes at the pancake restaurant. A little shopping will be done and then the train home.

Hadn't the weather been lovely? Don't you just feel great in sunshine? It lifts my mood for sure. And the clocks go back this weekend. Yay!

Had a little scare with Libby last Sunday. She wouldn't eat, and was peeing somewhat erratically (in circles while walking round the garden, and a little accident in the house) and when she sat next to me she cried a little. Well I was in bits. With hubby away I couldn't leave her. I honestly thought it was the beginning of the end. Anyway rest assured she's perked up. It took her about 3 days to start eating normally and we've had no more accidents! I'm not sure how long we can go but she's fighting tooth and nail! She's just amazing!

Alternative resolutions

  So this year, instead of the usual resolutions - lose weight, exercise more, drink water, drink less alcohol etc that fail in just a few days, I've decided to make resolutions for all the lovely people in my life!  Hubby - 2022 is the Year he wants to be more romantic. Though this is news to him. Romance is a foreign language and he has no clue. However, he does do Google! So I suggest he tries asking "Ok Google? How do I do romance?" I'm confident she can help him. Daughter - this is easy. She just needs to remember that one day she will be me!  Son - I know he can do full sentences so his resolution is to message with more than just fine/ok/good/I guess/no/yes. Also, he needs to be better at replying to messages in a timely manner and not wait all day! Libby - she's already doing a fab job of staying alive but I think it's time she didn't just stare at me when she wants a treat. Home bird

  Ellie and I were invited to a charity ball last weekend by my work. The big boss bought the tickets which was great. A young 23 year old lad was raising money for a cancer charity - being 5 years in remission himself. It was a chance to get dressed up and have a nice meal with a few drinks. Ellie bumped into my sister in law on the dance floor though her aunt didn't recognise her. Now I'm not saying that Ellie scrubs up well but... We managed to stay until 11pm (I'm sure Ellie could have gone the distance) much to the shock of my sister in law (they got home past 2am I believe). It may not be a surprise to you guys but I realised how much of a home bird I am. I struggle to go out at all, my first reaction would always be to decline an offer. I'm sensible enough to know that never going out would be unhealthy and I always try to ignore any anxiety and just do it anyway! But it is hard for me.   Oh I wish I'd looked after my teeth. The truth is I have no recollection of my childhood dental routine, at all! Was I good at brushing my teeth? No idea**. But I do know I have lots of fillings and I'm paying the real cost now. I had toothache over the weekend, waking me during the night! So the dentist says my tooth (my number 5 bottom right) is dying. He gave me the option of a root canal (great) or an extraction (great). I can't have another one pulled out, honestly at this rate I'll be left with bad gums and one implanted tooth! I actually cried and the dental nurse had to give me a hug, I was so gutted. The dentist gave me antibiotics - those really horrible ones that you absolutely can't drink alcohol with, they taste foul and give you diarrhoea. Anyway two days in, the meds have kicked in and the pain has eased. I'm getting the root canal on Tuesday. Oh joys.  Whilst I'm on the subject of meds my doctor has changed my HRT.
