Just a cold

So get a cup of coffee, find somewhere comfy to sit, maybe popcorn, because I am going to talk! Yes more than usual.

So I'm poorly. I got a cold when we were away. I did a lateral flow test, which was negative. It's just a cold. I spent last weekend just resting and taking paracetamol. But when I woke on Monday morning I realised that I wasn't fit for work (at the restaurant) so called in sick. I then called my other boss (at the Home) to warn her. On a Tuesday I run the staff PCR and LFT 'clinic'. She encouraged me to go for a PCR test straight away rather than wait until taking a staff one the next day. So I did. Went to the local drive through. It's fine, it's only a cold! I spent the day binging on Christmas movies. All day Tuesday waiting for the test result was a tiny bit stressful but it's ok it's only a cold. By Tuesday night, feeling rotten, I Google all things covid (like we don't already know everything) symptoms, symptoms after being vaccinated, incubation period. I'm now convinced I've got covid. Surely it's covid because I feel so ill? Hubby reminded me that it was just a cold, and I'd simply forgotten just how awful having a cold can be! During the night I got the email. The results are in.... Negative for covid! It was just a cold!

So on Wednesday, being covid free, I popped to b&q! Big mistake. At the tills I could feel my nose running, and it wasn't snot. I got to the car, pressing my mask to my nose. It was all I had. I could feel the blood streaming down my throat. I tried calling my daughter (she has lots of nose bleeds). My voice was croaky anyway and I'm holding my nose tight so it wasn't an easy conservation. She basically told me I just had to wait for it to stop. After about 15 mins I went back into the shop (I didn't want to be by myself at this point (yes I'm a baby) and I just wanted to cry - though I've learnt through past experience that crying and nose bleeds don't go well together). The duty manager/first aider was called. I was given a seat and a glass of water. I tried to sip the water but immediately blood fell in and turned it pink. Not nice. Anyway, an hour later it started to subside, thank goodness, the duty manager was threatening to take me to a&e!

Alas I had to cancel my dental appointment, lunch with my daughter and my covid booster (twice). Who knew being ill would be so inconvenient! And this is just a cold!!

Wednesday night in the bath I started to feel a bit more human. Maybe I could manage a couple of hours at work on Thursday at the Home? Nope! I had a viscous cough all night and my throat felt like it was being slashed by razor blades. Eventually I used my chocolate trick and managed to get a few hours sleep. Next morning it was time was another massive nose bleed. Yay the joys. I called work (the restaurant) and after telling me how well I sounded, not, she removed me off the rota for today and the weekend. That takes the pressure off. So I have a few days to recover. It's been a rotten week. But I know there's a few of us out there catching bugs etc. So I hope everyone is well, and if you're not, that you are very soon.

Anyway I knew it wasn't just a cold - it's man flu!

Btw this week's picture is my creation. I bought some really beautiful baubles on holiday so I made this twig to hang them on. I'm very proud.
