Men-ohhh-pause
So I don't have any classic symptoms of the menopause, yet. Periods are regular as clockwork, no hot flushes, I still sleep like a log however... Drum Roll...I have gone a bit doo-lally! And I'm definitely blaming the peri-menopause! My new work colleagues are beginning to think I'm crackers -
At the restaurant -
- I dropped the digital timer, into a bowl of macaroni cheese. This could happen to anyone but that's not the crazy bit. I then ran the timer under the tap to clean it. No need to say it stopped working! (Was fine the next day after drying over night lol)
- I wondered what staff did with their coats, as it's getting colder and the lockers aren't that big. At lunch I asked one of the girls. She looked at me funny and told me she hung it up, behind the door. I imagined a hook on the back of the door with a pile of coats hanging from it. When I was next using my locker I looked round, and on the wall behind me, next to the door, is a whole row of pegs! How did I miss it? It fills the wall!
At the care home -
- I have a fob that opens all the doors. But I always had trouble with the front door. I'd use the fob, hear the click, push the door but it would never open. My rattling would alert a colleague inside, who'd come and let me in. It wasn't until day 3 that I realised the door pulled open not pushed! (Oh and the colleague on all 3 days was my boss).
- I share an office with the manager. I have a small desk but had an ordinary chair which was a pest to maneuver, and I was constantly moving it to let people past behind. One evening my boss said that she'd found my chair in the room next door. That's when I realised that I was sat on a proper office chair with wheels, and I had been since lunch time. I hadn't even noticed that I was rolling my chair rather than pushing, pulling and shoving it! I was very embarrassed. And what made it worse was a resident who has brain damage and struggles to speak, noticed my new chair the first time he came to the office door!
Of course when I suggest to my hubby that I think menopause is affecting my memory and cognition he tells me that I've always been ditzy and do very silly things! I disagree! I'm usually a sensible, clever and articulate person. Discussing this with my friends we think it might just be the fact that I've not worked that much the last 2 years and my brain has seized! I'll take that.
Do you know that the menopause only actually lasts one day. Before the menopause it's called peri-menopause and after the menopause it's called post-menopause! So now you know. My pleasure!
As you can see from the picture I've been home to Newcastle. My annual trip with Christmas presents. It's cool because that's half my shopping all done already! Whoop. Had a lovely time even though it was a flying visit.
