It's not just me!

I don't usually write about other people. Mostly because I get into enough adventures myself but I must tell you about my pal.

Margaret** is newly single and was put onto a dating site by a friend (so she says). And she soon had a couple of messages. One guy she seemed to take a shine to. Now Margaret has been with her husband since they were at school about 14 years old or something, so Mag has never ever been on a date as such! So she told me she'd met up with this lad for a 'first date', her first ever first date! Interesting, time to interrogate her. Firstly what was his name? Tick (Tick is not his name but I gave her a tick for knowing). His age? Tick. His occupation? Well... She didn't know because she wasn't really listening! (Lesson no. 1 -listen to your date). Though to be fair it was something oil based so I'd switch off too. Far too complicated. Then I asked her what she wore? Her jogging bottoms! (Lesson no. 2 make a bit of an effort!) Did she at least have makeup on? Of course, she's not a moron! Lol. Where did they meet? Tesco carpark! (Oh dear lord it's getting worse. Lesson no. 3 at least go to the pub. Her answer to this was that they were both driving). Next, what did you talk about? Well he knows I have a plate (aka a false tooth). I don't want to know why he knows this! Lastly, does he know you're a grandma? No, I'm keeping that for the fourth date. If you're wondering why I asked that particular question, let's face it we're all getting on a bit? Mag is only 37! So yes being a grandma could be a bit of a shock. Anyway he wasn't put off and they're meeting again (I made her promise a pub, restaurant or cinema) and that's before we get into the burping!!

Me and my daughter have popped to Newcastle to see my mum (almost a year) and family and friends. It was so hard deciding to come and leave Libby. But this is now 9 weeks and she's doing fab. I was feeling like my life was on hold until she dies and that's not a good feeling. Of course as soon as I told mum we were coming I felt a huge pang of guilt, regret and anxiety. But we're having a lovely time. Mum is so happy! And it's be so good seeing everyone after all this time. And hubby tells me Libby is great! And let's face it this is probably my only holiday this year!

Some things are better left unsaid. Which I generally realise right after I've said them.

** Names have been changed to protect the innocent. Michelle told me to use her real name but I though changing it to Margaret was more fun! I'd like to say I've exaggerated for dramatical reasons, but I can't. It's all true!
