Covid
It's so nice working in the office after weeks of home working. Don't get me wrong, there are lots of pros to working at home - a short commute (just a roll down the stairs), relaxed dress code (PJs), staying in bed until the last minute (no one to smell my arm pits), right next to the kitchen for easy coffee breaks (Irish coffee breaks) and best of all not having to wear a mask!
Dare we believe that covid restrictions are slowly coming to an end? In Scotland we can now have 6 people from 6 households meeting outside. Shame I don't have 5 friends then (kidding, I have lots of friends, at least 7). It's so strange how quickly I've got used to the restrictions. It's been a year now (who would have guessed) and this now feels like the norm. Wearing a mask everywhere (I secretly like this as it means I don't need to wear my false tooth lol). Keeping 2m distance from people (we humans naturally have a virtual space around us, who wants to touch strangers anyway), online shopping (I've been guilty of this for years, Amazon anyone?), Lots of drinking and eating (say no more), washing our hands (um, don't you think we should always have been doing more of this?). However in spite of the lighter side of covid it's not all been great. Not being able to hug (I'm a big hugger), visit people, see my family, just pop to a friend's for a coffee without checking the weather forecast. And of course lots of folks being furloughed or made redundant. And I don't even want to think about those who have been ill or lost their lives! God bless them all.
I for one can not wait to travel. I want to see my mum, my dad and my sisters and everyone else. And I really really really want a holiday. I want sunshine and cocktails and diving and all that comes with a holiday. I shan't be booking anything until it's all proper better. I don't want to wear a mask on a 10 hour flight, or while walking around a resort in the heat. Or having to worry about a negative test or a covid passport. So whilst I wait I shall be holidaying in Costa del back garden. With the Scottish sun (yes, it's not a myth) warming my bones, homemade cocktails and ready meals so I can pretend I'm in a nice restaurant. Olé!
I don't want covid to be over. I want it never to have happened at all!
Dogs are for life, not just a global pandemic.
