New job
I started my new job. I had to pop into the office to sign my contract and pick up my laptop to allow me to work from home. My boss had left me a card and gift to welcome me. The book 'The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse'. I hadn't heard of it, though I believe it's quite popular. It's just delightful. Lots of pencil sketches and heart warming sayings. It reminds me a little of Winnie the Pooh. What a lovely way to be welcomed to a new job. I was blown away I must say. This job will be fantastic if that's just my first day. Once settled at home I had a zoom meeting with my new boss. At the end of my induction she asked me to open the book at a random page. The saying I opened on is my saying of the week. Quite pertinent I think too. I think you'll get a lot of post scripts from the book over the next few weeks.
It is an odd feeling to be back in a position where I don't know what I'm doing. It's a brand new job with a brand new firm of course I don't have a clue! But it's very bizarre and a feeling I don't really enjoy. I'm sure it won't take long to get to grips with my role. I always tell family and friends to wait at least 6 months before they even think about whether they like a new job, I believe it really does take that long to settle. But I'm sure that time will fly. It's very exciting.
So I finally plucked up courage to step on the scales. Though I resisted I did think I needed a starting point. As predicted I've hit a new all time high. Just a pound but that's too much. I've managed to start my dry January and I haven't drank all week. My mum is already telling me not to drink again. This is unlikely but never say never. I dare say keeping the alcohol on the reduced level will be better for losing fat. I'm still ploughing through my Christmas chocolates so my diet hasn't radically changed yet but it will. All in good time. Steady goes the tortoise!
'What's the bravest thing you've ever said?' asked the boy. 'Help' said the horse.
