Oops
As you may know I like to bake. I often post pictures of my successes. But what I don't generally discuss are my un-successes! This week I decided to make mince pie type things with the jar of mince meat hiding in the larder. So I defrosted some puff pastry (life is too short to make pastry). Then I realised the mince meat was best before 2016. I'm guessing this is no surprise to any of you. Now normally I get hubby to try all my doubtfuls as he's a super taster and I'm a rubbish taster! However he doesn't do mince meat (he gets very angry that it's even called mince meat when there is no meat in sight). So, as we were having al fresco cuppa with our neighbours I asked George's mum to taste it. And no, I didn't divulge the out-of-date-ness of it. I didn't want to prejudice her. Um, yeah, she pretty much spat it out! Oops. So then I had defrosted pastry with nothing to do with it. George's mum wasn't so put out, she offered to buy more mince meat when she popped to the shops. Cool. So she produced a kilo jar. I rolled out the pastry, spread the WHOLE jar on, rolled it into a tube, sliced rings and made mince meat Danishes. So far so good. Got them out of the oven and put them onto my cooling rack. Oh dear. All of the mince meat fell out of the pastry, through the rack and onto the worktop! Just leaving empty curled pastry things. What a mess! George's mum and dad were very polite when I took some round! This then reminded me of another disaster (to be truthful there's been many) that they have politely endured. After we'd first moved into our house I made my usual Christmas biscuits. Handed them to all my neighbours very smugly. Then I tried one, yuk yuk yuk, I'd forgotten to add the sugar! They weren't nice and I was so embarrassed. My neighbours often act as Guinea pigs for my experiments. Once I handed them a feedback form to complete! And they did bless them, Oh what fun. Happy days lol.
Since we were talking about Christmas movies last week I'll tell you we found a new one. The other night, searching for a Christmas movie to watch we found the kids animation movie Small Feet. So we thought we'd give it a go. It was hilarious. We cried with laughter! So funny, as these kids movies often are.
The only other thing I have today is that I've got myself one of those job thingies! Working for a debt charity. I'm starting next year and I'm very delighted! Whoop! Earning money again 😄
As next Friday is Christmas Day I'll miss a week. I'll try to write a wee one (don't want you forgetting about me) between Christmas and New year! So have a fabulous few days. I hope you can celebrate safely and have a fun time. I'm sure Santa will be kind. Love you all xx
May you never be too grown up to search the skies on Christmas Eve.
PS I made the wreath. Pretty terrible isn't it? Lol
