Merry Boxing Day
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, but I defy anyone to have had a better time than a member of my family - Libby the Labrador!
It started a week or so ago when she discovered a gift of hers in our bedroom. A pack of 12 tennis balls! She knew it was obviously for her as she is the only one in the family that plays tennis! So they were wrapped and placed under the tree. An action that did not go unnoticed. On 23 Dec my in laws visited for a socially distanced al fresco lunch, and we exchanged gifts. They brought one for Libby and said that she could have it straight away. Well, she was super excited and carried this parcel all around everyone and the garden, tail wagging, proud as punch. After about 15 mins of showing everyone the lovely paper she decided to open it. So she threw it about, used her teeth and claws, and got the paper off. Oh my goodness - a stuffed gingerbread man with a bow tie and a squeak! Just what she always wanted. How did they know? Best present ever. Later that night we found her re-arranging the gifts under the tree (gently moving them with her mouth) to get to the one see knew was hers (the pack of tennis balls!) No, Libby! It's not Christmas yet! So yesterday morning, happy Christmas, we zoomed my daughter and sang happy birthday to her. My daughter started to open her birthday presents. Ah, Libby thought! Finally Christmas! Off she went, to the tree, grabbed the first one she came to (it was actually for my son). Brought it happily and excitedly to her bed, ready to open!! I've never seen her so excited. When her dad opened his stocking and pulled out a small Kevin the carrot her tail went ten to the dozen! Yes! Finally a gift for me - she abandoned gingerbread man (she's so fickle) and promptly claimed it for herself! Eventually she got her own gifts to open - a reindeer, a big chew, treats (from her boyfriend George), a new blanket and a pack of 12 tennis balls! Merry Christmas everyone!
She was really good. At the end of the night she obediently brought all 12 balls to her dad's feet so he could put them back in the bag! What a good girl. Who needs TV when you have a daft dog?
Anyway I hope you're all well and jolly. Here's to a magic new year and a better 2021! I shall write next year.
If you don't own a dog there is nothing wrong with you, but there is something wrong with your life.
